I’m currenly exploring HF mobile (qrp 5w) whilst we are at or near the peak of the current sunspot cycle.

I have been very suprised and happy with the results.

I am running a very simple station described below on my journeys to and from work.

Current Location and Band

Rig: Yaesu FT-817ND

Antenna: Diamond HF-10FX, 15, 20 & 40

Power: 12Ah Sealed lead acid battery

Antenna Mount: SO-239 Single base mag mount

Vehicle: Isuzu Trooper lwb. Common rail diesel with lots of injector RFI over 60mph on 20m, but ok on 15 and 10.

Traffic Conditions: Very very busy and mostly at during rush hour (check my speeds on aprs 🙂

Current (rough) operating sched as of 01/08/2013:

Mon, Wed,Thu, Fri 0600-0900 & 1700-1900 40, 20,15 or 10 meters.

Bands: 40, 20, 15 or 10 meters – see APRS for current operating band.
